WELCOME TO OUR NEW INTERIM RECTOR
The Reverend Alon White, our interim rector, started work here on Monday, January 23, 2012. She will be at all services on Sunday, January 29, and will speak and meet the congregation during the parish forum which begins at 10:10am that day, between the 9:30 and 11:00am services.

Mo. Alon, a priest who has served her entire ordained ministry in Connecticut and New York, is originally from Berkeley, California. She comes to us most recently from serving as vicar at Grace Church, in Monroe, NY (Orange County) although she has been living in Nyack (which she loves) for the past year.

While in Monroe, she helped to develop a partnership with the local school as part of the All Our Children Pilot Program sponsored by Trinity Wall Street and The Diocese of New York. As part of her work with their neighbor, North Main Street School, she 1) Enlisted and worked with volunteers from the school, parish and community, in the development of a vegetable garden which provided fresh produce for students who received food assistance through the school and 2) Recruited and worked with parish volunteers in a rotation of classroom visits to read (she had her own second grade class); members of the congregation made Christmas and Thanksgiving collections for the students and one member, initiated a program through the Quilting Grannies which provided lap quilts to the nurse’s office.

Mo Alon has served as interim rector at St. Alban’s, Simsbury, Connecticut, and St. John’s, Pleasantville, New York. In addition to other parish work (earlier in her career) in Connecticut, she served as Chaplain and Director of Deployment and Field Education at The General Theological Seminary, in New York. She holds a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling, from the University of San Francisco, trained in Divorce and Family Mediation and Domestic Violence through New York area programs, and Parish Search Consulting through the Parish Development Program in Connecticut. She graduated from The General Theological Seminary in 1991 and is still trying to figure out where the time has gone.

As someone who was baptized as an adult, she has a passion for working with seekers, inquirers, cynics, and those who might describe themselves as “hopeful agnostics” or “spiritual but not religious.”

Her hobbies include: reading, cooking, stage managing, and, much to her surprise, gardening. She lives with cats Chloe and Po, and is looking forward to the opportunity to walk to and from work.
